Asghar Farhadi, vincitore per il film iraniano “The Salesman” miglior film in lingua straniera, ha inviato una lettera letta a suo nome dall’ingegnere Iraniana-Americana Anousheh Ansari per giustificare la sua assenza agli Oscars “Mi spiace non essere presente in questa serata speciale. La mia è una protesta contro il mancato rispetto verso la gente della mia nazione e per le altre sei nazioni alle quali la legge dell’immigrazione vieta il visto d’entrata negli USA.
Khaled Khateeb, regista siriano di “The White Helmets” , il cui documentario ha vinto come short subject , non ha potuto partecipare alla serata dell’Academy Awards poichè le autorità dell’immigrazione gli hanno negato il permesso d’entrata negli USA
